After completing the six month course of Cytoxan, I am now on a different drug for the next twelve months: Imuran. It's less toxic than Cytoxan, described as a "maintenance drug" by my rheumatologist. But I just found out tonight that it is still classified as a chemotherapy drug. I think that in treating Wegners, they hit it hard for six months, and once the patient reaches remission, they switch to a different drug that is less aggressive. I've been on it for two weeks and the good news is that I havent experienced alot of the common side effects like nausea. In fact, I am feeling really well! More like my old self. The bad news is that my hair is continuing to fall out. It's been falling out a little each day for the past six months, getting thinner and thinner. But, in the last two weeks, I've crossd the line from thin to balding. I finaly broke down and bought a wig. I'm not quite ready to shave my head; I just got a really short hair cut so it's not so upsetting as it falls out. So here are a few pics of my new "do".
