Cool Tool

Typically, in August, I spend a couple of weeks getting ready for the start of a new calendar year. Both the church and school begin their calendars in September.

I love getting a fresh, blank calendar and writing in all the plans and activities. Over the years, I've used Daytimers and paper calendars with color pencils to highlight various categories.

As our family and responsibilities have grown, I've found it more and more difficult to mesh all the layers of our schedules on one piece of paper. We are co-ordinating 7 people, a church calendar, leader's meetings, school activities, on-campus classes, homeschool lesson plans (3 grades), home management (cleaning and meal schedules, vacations, hospitality) retreats and conferences...etc.

It's taken me a long time to make the switch from my paper based method to the computer, but I've taken the plunge and it is wonderful!

I am now using Google Calendar and can make a separate category for each layer of our schedules and use different colors to highlight them.

Ron and I can even access each other's calendars from our computers so we can coordinate plans.

How cool is that?!
