Since we are studying the Renaissance this quarter in school, the girls and I are reading through some Shakespeare Stories. I've found a great book for kids that tells the stories in modern English, but still reserves some of the best lines from the original plays. This way, kids can become familiar with the stories, without drowning in the unfamiliar language. Then, when they're older and read the original plays, they'll understand the storyline.
So far, we've read: Romeo and Juliet, Merchant of Venice, Othello and Cymbaline. Today, we got together with some other kids in their school and watched The Taming of the Shrew.
