Tonight marks the reintroduction of an old California Boomsma Family Tradition: International Dinner Nights. When Zach and Courtney were younger (before the family went in 5 different directions and we ate less and less together...) I used to have weekly dinners that featured different international meals - Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Italian...
We had dishes and chopsticks purchased from Chinatown in LA and had fun using them for our mealtimes.
Courtney got inspired today and went to Chinatown (just a few minutes from our house, really) and picked up some cool bowls and chopsticks. She came home, set a beautiful table and cooked up a storm!
She made sticky rice, chicken and cabbage stir-fry, egg-drop soup and served green tea in cups from Japan that were a gift from an exchange student.
It was awesome! We had a great time and unanimously decided to bring back the tradition!
