Big Sur

We had a wonderful time exploring the central coast last weekend! We spent one night in Morro Bay - walking through the farmer's market and visiting the quaint shops downtown, strolling the Embarcadero on the water front and touring a new hotel that we hope to stay at next time.

We drove north, stopping to see the Elephant Seals near San Simeon, and admiring the dramatic coastline along the way.

We stayed in a small cabin in the woods- our deck that was off the bedroom was right on the river! We had a little Franklin wood-stove we kept going all night as we listened to the soothing sound of the rushing river.

Favorite Spot: finding a hidden cove with breathtaking scenery. Unfortunately, it was very foggy so the pictures we took don't capture the beauty.

Simply being outdoors, walking in the woods, strolling the beach or sitting by the river was just the thing we needed to feel refreshed. We spent the weekend drinking in the quiet beauty and marveling at the grandeur of God and His creation. I think that nature has a healing effect on your mind. Living in Southern California - Los Angeles in particular- has taken its toll on us. It's good to get away periodically - away from the press of the crowd, away from the traffic, the crime and the fast paced living.

It was so good to see miles and miles of wild, undeveloped and uninhabited land. There's nothing like a little bit of nature to help get your perspective adjusted.

Although we were only gone for three days, we came back renewed in mind and spirit.
