Day Three: Spring Cleaning

Today: The Kitchen.

De-clutter.
Organize.
Clean.

I spent the entire day here! I only left long enough to take the girls to school and stay for a 30 min. class. Grabbed lunch on the way home and dug right in.

I took everything out of every cupboard and drawer, washed down the shelves and doors, wiped down all the small appliances, weeded out unnecessary items, threw away a ton of mismatched plastic containers and unused dishes, got rid of old spices, and re organized the entire kitchen to be more efficient. I have a large box for Goodwill that will be added to the stuff we collected from the girls' room. Will make one drop on Saturday when (hopefully) we'll be done.

I sprayed the oven before going to bed so that in the morning all I need to do is wipe it out.

Tomorrow morning: organize and clean the refrigerator and freezer, take down and clean all the knickknacks, wipe down the tops of the cupboards, wash the walls and mop the floor.

Tomorrow afternoon: de-clutter and organize master bedroom closet, dresser, nightstands and desk - along with the bathroom tower cabinet. Getting the two rooms ready for cleaning on Friday.

I'm collecting a list of Spring Cleaning jobs for Ron to do when he comes back from his travels:
(I'm writing this here, so I don't lose the list.)
  • cleaning the vents on the microwave and fridge
  • wipe down the air-conditioners (outside)
  • replace the filters on the heating vents
  • wash the outside windows
  • any maintenance needed for the furnace and water heater
  • repairs and maintenance to the front porch and front door-frame
